The People

Meet the Team
Behind Camp Leopard.

Every person here is part of the reason guests come back.

We hire from the villages that border the park, and several of the team have been with us since the beginning. When things got hard, and in Sri Lanka's tourism industry over the last several years they really did, we held together the way a family does. The camp and the team came first. Everything else waited. That decision shaped who we are.

On-Site Team

The Guides

Community-trained and professionally developed, our guides don't just find animals. They interpret the ecosystem, read the landscape, and bring the whole experience to life in a way that's rare even among Sri Lanka's top safari operators.

🐆
Chaminda
Head Safari Guide — Over a decade reading Yala's landscape. Chaminda doesn't chase leopards — he knows where they'll be. His patience and deep knowledge of animal behaviour make every drive an education.
🌿
Nuwan
Safari Guide — Grew up in Katagamuwa village. Nuwan brings an intimate local knowledge that most guides can't match, from birdcalls to medicinal plants to the stories behind every watering hole.

We don't chase leopards.
We don't crowd sightings.

Our location gives us access to quieter corners of Yala that most camps simply can't reach, and we use that deliberately. Patience and presence, not a checklist. The guests who've been with us, and the reviews they've left, say it better than we can.

Camp Operations

The people who keep Camp Leopard running — from the kitchen serving proper home-cooked Sri Lankan cuisine to the team who make sure every tent, every fire pit, and every detail is exactly right.

🏕️
Saman
Camp Operations Lead — Keeps Camp Leopard running with quiet efficiency. From logistics to guest experience, he's the person who makes sure everything works while making it look effortless.
🍛
Kumari
Head Chef — Home-cooked, full-board Sri Lankan cuisine from a local kitchen. Her rice and curry is the reason many guests say they'll come back. Action station evenings are her speciality.

Management Team

The people who handle bookings, coordinate itineraries, and make sure every guest's experience is designed before they even arrive. Most of this team you'll never meet in person, but they're the reason everything feels seamless.

The Four-Legged Team

Booboo & the Gang

Camp Leopard is Sri Lanka's only pet-friendly safari camp. But our dogs are not pets we brought here. They are rescues — strays who were abandoned, injured, or sick, and who we nursed back to health. Every one of them has a story of survival. Today, they are vaccinated, loved, and very much in charge.

🐕
Booboo
Camp Mascot · German Shepherd — The undisputed boss of Camp Leopard. A gentle soul with an unshakable sense of authority. Sleeps wherever he pleases, usually in the middle of the dining area, and considers every safari vehicle his personal escort.
🐾
Dobby
Leopard Attack Survivor — Arrived at camp barely alive after a leopard attack. The scars tell the story of a night most dogs would not have survived. Despite his ordeal, Dobby is remarkably calm around the jungle's sounds.
🦮
Rexy
Filariasis Survivor — Found suffering from a parasitic disease, she could barely walk. After months of treatment, Rexy made a full recovery. Now one of the most energetic members of the team, always the first to investigate new arrivals.
🐶
Kuki
Parvovirus Survivor · Partially Blind — Survived parvovirus as a pup. The illness left her partially blind, but she knows every tree, every tent rope, every chair. The quietest of the team, preferring to lean into guests' legs for affection.
🐕‍🦺
BP
The Former Alpha — Once the alpha of the local stray pack before he chose camp life over the wild. Carries himself with the quiet confidence of a dog who has seen everything and is no longer impressed by any of it.
In Memory

We remember the four-legged friends who crossed the rainbow bridge during their time with us. They lived their final days in comfort, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle and the warmth of a family. They are not forgotten.
