Yala's Six Blocks.
One National Park.
The Greater Yala Complex spans over 1,200 km² across six distinct blocks. Most operators use the crowded Palatupana gate. Camp Leopard accesses quieter gates at Katagamuwa and Galge, meaning fewer jeeps and more authentic wildlife encounters.
Block 1
The Classic
Semi-arid landscape with the highest leopard density on Earth. The most popular block, accessed via Palatupana. Camp Leopard enters through the quieter Katagamuwa secondary gate, avoiding the crowds.

Block 2
The Desert
Desert-like plains with limited access. Rarely visited by tourists. Home to wild elephants and sloth bears moving between blocks.
Blocks 3–4
The Hidden Jungle
Gallery forest, butterflies, and ancient caves with prehistoric paintings. A photographer's paradise for birdlife and smaller mammals. Accessible during specific seasons.
Block 5
Camp Leopard's Favourite
Rainforest-like terrain with varied landscapes: lakes, rivers, grasslands, and dense canopy. Accessed via Galge Gate. Less crowded, more diverse wildlife. This is where Marc spotted the leopard that became the Camp Leopard logo.

Block 6
The New Frontier
The newest block in the dry zone. Wide open spaces, elephant herds, and crocodile-lined waterholes. Growing in popularity but still uncrowded.
Our ethical safari commitment: No speeding, no harassing animals, no crowding sightings. Our rangers are trained in conservation ethics and use tracking skills built over years in the park, not GPS pins shared on WhatsApp groups.
